Sari doing Standup at the Conejo Valley Comedy Festival in 2025

Sari Karplus has been performing since she was a kid. After college, she moved to Los Angeles and started training at Improv Olympic, Second City, and later Upright Citizens Brigade. But when she gave stand-up a try, she had no idea it would become her main focus for nearly a decade.

Since 2001, Sari has done stand-up in over 400 shows across the country. She’s shared stages with some of her comedy heroes *cough* namedrop *cough*—including Chris Rock and Patton Oswalt—and performed at festivals like the Chicago Improv Festival (twice!) and most recently, the Conejo Valley Comedy Festival. She also produced the acclaimed St. Nick’s Comedy Show and The Underground Lounge at the Hollywood Improv—taking the mic right after Drew Carey & Friends and curating lineups featuring A-list talent.

Sari briefly landed a job writing for Steve Harvey after her joke samples were described as "a bloodbath." Though unclear, Sari interpreted this as a good thing. Her jokes have been published in anthologies: She's So Funny and Squeaky Clean Comedy. Spoiler alert: her act was not always so squeaky clean.
